I was recently admitted to SLBH for an addition I have been dealing with for about 7 yrs. Being a senior citizen I was concerned I would feel out of place. I was able to reveal the deepest and darkest secrets without being judged. Dr. Wilson was amazing and so my primary therapist Reagan. All the nurses and techs were very professional. A couple I would like to mention were: Rebecca, Earl, Jason. I left feeling very confident. That I was given the tools I need to be cope with anything that comes at me. And most of all how to love myself again.
Be warned: This facility suffers from a systemic lack of accountability and a total failure in administrative follow-through. While the independent prescribing physician was compassionate, and professional, the hospital’s internal staff and management operate in a communication void. For those considering this facility for a loved one, expect the following: Non-existent Communication: Promises of therapist updates and clinical follow-ups go unfulfilled. You will find yourself in a circular waste of time, chasing information that never arrives. Administrative Negligence: Staff will explicitly agree to facilitate essential paperwork and authorizations, only to completely drop the ball with zero follow-up or response to emails. Operational Failure: The phone system is a black hole. Calls ring indefinitely, messages are ignored, and it is nearly impossible to reach anyone in the utilization or billing departments who can provide actual assistance. Unprofessional Conduct: Front-line staff have been observed providing conflicting information and displaying a shocking lack of professional ethics during family crises, even laughing and giggling while speaking with me on the phone when I called during the specified time to speak to my loved one. Even with full legal clearance on file, getting basic information is a constant, distressing battle. This facility is quick to admit but entirely incompetent when it comes to the basic administrative compliance and family engagement required for safe, effective care. The total lack of a clear chain of command makes it an exhausting and frustrating experience during an already difficult time. Look elsewhere for a facility that values transparency and professional standards.
My stay was bittersweet! I went in for help with my depression, not only did they provide me with many ways to help with that, they cared for the whole body. The meals were great. The staff so awesome. I honestly didn’t want to leave! Thank you!!!!
