Reviews
Dan has been instrumental in helping me achieve goals that I had never been able to accomplish with previous providers. Throughout each visit, he has consistently demonstrated kindness, engagement, encouragement, and understanding. I truly appreciate his unwavering commitment. His approach to providing relief is never pushy; instead, he often adopts a gentle and caring demeanor. You’re greatly appreciated DAN !
Dan Lowder has been an outstanding provider and an incredible support. I’m genuinely grateful for the time he takes with me—he listens closely, is empathetic, and creates a space where I feel understood and safe. What stands out most is how encouraging he is, reminding me that what I’m experiencing is temporary and that progress is possible. I’ve already noticed a meaningful improvement, and I truly look forward to continuing my care with Dan.
After receiving appropriate professional care, I learned that I am not an ideal candidate for TMS and that Dr. Propowski documented my diagnosis as depression without psychotic features to qualify me for TMS treatment and trick the insurance companies to pay for my care. After seeking care at Premier Psychiatry and consulting with other highly qualified psychiatric professionals, I was informed that, based on my medical history, it was not clinically appropriate for me to receive TMS, as it poses potential risks to my health and is not a first-line treatment for my diagnosis. Overall, I realized that Dr. Propowski was not candid. At times, she made assurances that I would receive help, but there was little follow-through. The head therapist, Stacy, never contacted me or provided resources or support. Unfortunately, my experience made it clear that the practice operated more as a business than as patient-centered care. I also reported my concerns to Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna and requested that they investigate the TMS treatment I received. Laura, the head TMS technician at the Orland Park location, was kind and professional and never pressured me regarding payment. However, I did receive a call from the billing department in which I was told that if I did not make an immediate payment, the doctor would refuse to see me. Although I attempted to work with the billing department and communicated with them multiple times, my messages were not returned, and the billing process was disorganized and unprofessional. After speaking with my current provider, Dr. Thapar at Premier Psychiatry, he advised that the best decision was to discontinue TMS treatment at Relief Mental Health. Based on my diagnosis and medical history, continuing TMS was not advisable and could have negatively impacted my health. Another psychiatrist, Dr. Byrne, also confirmed that TMS was not an appropriate treatment option in my case. Dr. Nagra from Riveredge hospital told me to stop doing it too because, based on the studies, it is not effective. While this experience was difficult to accept, I am grateful to have since received care from other providers who practice with integrity, transparency, and genuine concern for their patients. It was ultimately shocking to realize the extent of the shortcomings in my prior care, but reassuring to know that ethical and compassionate physicians still exist. In the end, I did invest so much money in a business, not a compassionate clinic.
