Liahona Treatment Center

I was a student at Liahona from 2022-2023. I was 14 and was struggling with addiction. At first I was very hesitant to actually commit to true change and sat not doing anything for about three months. It wasn’t until I sat down the program director and had a geniune man to man talk did it hit me that I really needed to start changing so that I can go home and be with my family. I began to listen to what was being asked of me and starting taking advice and actually putting in the work myself that was assigned by my therapist and it was not until then did I start to reap the rewards of my good work. When I got my first visit with my parents after 4 month of working hard it felt so good because I began to see a good relationship between me and my parents which I never had before. The more I continued to work hard I was able to get better and healthier. Not only were the therapists there for me but the staff as well. They were leaders who set a good example of what good young men should be. It took me a while to understand that they were to HELP me and NOT hurt me. If it weren’t for Liahona I don’t know where I would be right now honestly either dead or behind bars. I owe a lot to Liahona for what they have done for me and I’m grateful for this place. I thank god because I now have a meaningful relationship with my family and I feel like a better young man as I’m still learning and growing everyday.

Liahona Academy was my last chance to change. The staff and program directors are amazing and are there not for the money but because they understand us and want to help us. The love, culture, and bond is strong. Liahona showed me that in this world full of temptations and chaos self-control and change is possible. The Liahona Motto is that if you do good you get good. That is not a lie. The good may not be in the moment, but it will come. Thank you Liahona for helping be the best version of me.

Liahona gave us our son back! We didn’t know what to do with our son. His behavior issues and substance abuse problems were out of control. We wanted to help him so desperately but nothing we were doing was making any difference in his choices or behavior. We were at the last straw when we heard good things about Liahona from several sources we trusted. We called and talked to their intake person several times and asked all our questions. We felt like this was our only option left. When we saw our son for our first parent visit, we could not believe what a change we saw in him. I cried and told him I could see the light back in his eyes! The staff was so helpful and friendly with us. They always responded quickly to questions or concerns we had. They treated us with respect, and also our son. They were fair, but there were rules he had to follow. It was the best decision we could have made for him. He was able to catch up and also graduate from high school early! He’s now working and going to college and living the life we always wanted for him. And he’s happy and respectful to us and substance free! We are so glad we made the decision to send him to Liahona! Thank you and all the staff for giving us our son back, but better!
