Brain Balance Center of Des Moines

We cannot say enough good things about Brain Balance of Des Moines. This program made a tremendous difference for our son—particularly with his anger, concentration, and overall focus. From the very beginning, the team truly listened to us as parents. They took our concerns seriously, offered thoughtful suggestions, and—just as importantly—affirmed that what we were experiencing as a family was normal. That reassurance alone meant so much. Emma went above and beyond in every way. She took the time (on multiple occasions!) to connect directly with our son’s school, helping develop appropriate and effective interventions for his IEP. She participated in Zoom calls with teachers and support staff to ensure everyone fully understood his needs and how best to support him. That level of advocacy and collaboration is rare and deeply appreciated. The entire Brain Balance team has been incredibly patient and intentional in building fun, positive relationships with our son. He genuinely looked forward to going each week—it became the highlight of his week, which says everything. Even though we live an hour and a half away, Donnie and Emma worked closely with our family to create a plan that truly fit our schedule and needs. We utilized a hybrid model: one in-center session per week, one Zoom session, and one session completed at home. That flexibility made all the difference and allowed us to fully commit to the program. If you’re considering Brain Balance and wondering if it’s worth it—our experience says absolutely yes. We are so grateful for this team and the lasting impact they’ve had on our son and our family.

We enrolled our child into the Brain Balance program with hopes of improving behavioral control, personal boundaries and reducing emotional outbursts. At first, the results were subtle, progress felt slow during the initial weeks, and we weren’t sure what to expect. However, after staying consistent with the program, we began to see very positive improvements. Fast forward several months later our child now has much better control over their behavior and emotions, which has made a huge difference at home and in school. The journey required patience, but throughout the entire process, the brain balance team was fantastic and transparent with what they were seeing and focusing on. We are very happy with this experience overall and recommend for any family looking help with behavioral challenges.

Brain Balance has done miracles for my child, in combination with his regular play therapy my child has seen significant improvement. I saw a change in his behaviors within a month. We are no longer having extremely meltdowns throughout the day. I was at a loss and not sure what else to do until we found Brain Balance. The staff are extremely kind and they are more than flexible with scheduling. I hope to get my other children in the program as well.
